NSW STATE MATCHES
BLACK POWDER RIFLE
Note: Following is details for a NSW special match. Being a NSW match, these may be shot as part of a "Top Gun" aggregate at any NSW match or event.
Rules:
- These
matches are shot in accordance with the rules listed in the National rule book
and NSW amendments
and by-laws, plus the following:
- Reloading is by way of powder capsules. Horns/flasks
are not permitted to be used with the firearm on the
firing line
- If a ram rod is deemed unsafe (such as some old wooden rods), a shooter will
be asked to replace that rod with
a newer/stronger rod.
- Projectiles are to be of lead ball and patch, or “minnie” type may
be used.
Rifle:
- Class D breech loading, falling block, lever/Martini action,
- Class E muzzle loading, rifled or smooth bore,
- Firearms should be faithfully reproduced and fundamentally within
spirit of the pre 1900 service discipline,
Target:
SSAA 4x4 Type C (Appendix 1) or, 60cm
disk (Appendix 2)
(N.B. The choice of target is at the discretion of the competition
committee.
Starting:
Shooters follow the official range commands:
- Class D -
Load, Action, Identify your target, Instant, Fire.
- Class E - Load, Cap, Identify your target, Cock, Fire.
Scoring:
- SSAA 4x4 Type C - V, 5, 4, 3, 2 , 1
- SSAA 60cm disc – V, 5, 3
Score/count
“V” ring hits to break tied scores as 5.1.
