2004 NSW State Rankings- Pistol

2004 “Shooter Of The Year” and “State Teams” will be based on 2004 ranking’s as laid out by the “competition structure used throughout the Military/Service discipline year.  Thanks to the NSW State Champs, various ranges/branches running state sanctioned matches and the implementation of a NSW Grand Prix Series for both rifle and pistol, we have the ability to aggregate the scores into a fair ranking system (refer to “2004 Competition Structure” flow chart diagram).

Rifle and Pistol, categories both have a ranking system in place and therefore, State Teams and SOTY criteria will be up for contention throughout the discipline year.

Both Rifle and Pistol Ranking’s scores come from the state sanctioned matches as per the discipline structure diagram.  Rifle is based on standard/as-issued classes A/B/C (combined).  Pistol is based on classes 1/2 (combined) which also are standard pistols.

Scoring and Results

Ranking’s for both Rifle and Pistol will be determined by using the filtered raw target scores from the sanctioned matches and adding them together to form an aggregate.   Therefore, it is NOT a points based system like the HoF, but a system based on your shooting results.

State Ranking’s 2004

Rifle ranking’s will be based on the following sanctioned matches for 2004:

-         2004 Grand Prix Series aggregate (best 3 rounds of the 9 round series aggregate that is based on the 3P Core and Rapid Fire B), and

-         Equivalent matches from the 2004 NSW State Championships.

Pistol ranking’s will be based on the following sanctioned matches for 2004:

-         2004 Grand Prix Series aggregate (best 3 rounds of the 6 round series aggregate that is based on the 3Range Core and 3Position), and

-         Equivalent matches from the 2004 NSW State Championships.

Note:  Other matches for both Rifle and Pistol MAY be included provided they are appropriately advertised in the AS magazine and/or NSW Newsletter.

Ranking’s will be determined by sorting all shooter aggregate scores in descending order by their respective aggregate score.

State Teams 2004,

The top 4 placed shooters, by aggregate score, in the State Ranking’s list will become the state team and the 5th place will be the reserve.

Shooter of the Year, is basically a follow on to the State Team selection.  SOTY is the person who qualifies in 1st place with the highest ranking aggregate.

Further Info

Successful SOTY and State Team shooters will be announced at the following 2004 NSW State Championships.  This team will remain the “current” team until the conclusion of the following State Champs and GP series, plus any other scheduled sanctioned matches.

One of the advantages of a fair ranking system is, if the time comes that the State Team is required to represent NSW and one of the qualified team members cannot make the event, then that shooter may be replaced with the next best ranked shooter.  This call-up system would continue until the team positions are filled.

State Team members may purchase the official State Team Patch, at their cost.  If they so wish to obtain the patch, they must apply in writing to the SDC accompanied with the necessary funds.
