Thanks to the efforts of various NSW ranges who agreed to run state sanctioned matches in 2003, and after many discussions and correspondence with many NSW shooters, the final “link” in NSW Mil/Serv rifle is the fair calculation of the “NSW Military/Service Rifle Shooter Of The Year” and state teams selection.
SOTY will be based on the state teams selection criteria which itself is based on the aggregate of the State championships and Grand Prix results (includes the state postal shoot). After all the scores are tallied and sorted in aggregate score descending order, the person with the highest score will be the outright winner of the teams selection and therefore crowned SOTY. The next 3 people will also be on the state team along with 5th place as a reserve.
State team patches are available for each of the team members and their cost. Application for the patches must be in writing and submitted to the SDC with the required funds.
It wouldn’t be surprising if there was some confusion as to what our “year” actually was being that the discipline AGM held at the state championships is usually held in September. Therefor, the “year” runs between each year’s state championships, however, being that the following couple of months are generally absorbed with administrative duties, it would be fair to conceive the “year” as the year of greatest proportion. For example, October 2002 till September 2003 would be considered 2003 and so on.
All information and historical records will are maintained and kept on the NSW Mil/Serv web site for all to see and keep update with.
