2008 HOF Information

Introduction

The “Hall of Fame” program is a great incentive that makes the Military/Service discipline structurally sound.  This is something that has been in other disciplines for many years and was put in place for Military/Service Rifle after the 2002 AGM, and Military/Service Pistol at the 2003 State Championships.

This honour will NOT be easy to achieve – nor should it be.  It is designed to support the shooters that support the sport and this discipline.  Of course, this honour may not be everybody’s goal.  But, being an honour that you must earn, not use luck to achieve, it ultimately offers something for EVERY NSW member to strive for.

Systems, Categories and Classes of Equipment

This is not a handicap or graded system/scheme.  It is based on shooter ability, not the equipment used and there the Hall of Fame system is not restricted to any 1 class or equipment.

A Hall Of Fame system is in place to accommodate:

- Rifle, combining classes A, B & C (iron sights only) sanctioned matches, events or competitions as advertised,

- Pistol, combining classes 1 & 2 pistol (iron sights only) sanctioned matches, events or competitions as advertised.

- Cadet Rifle, combining .310 cadet and .22 trainer (iron sights only) sanctioned matches, events or competitions as advertised,

Please Note:  HoF will have points allocated to the combination of each class for any given firearm competition.  If a shooter competes in a competition under 2 or more classes, then that shooters best result will be used.

Both HoF systems for rifle, pistol and cadet run separately and DO NOT combine in any way (i.e.. a member of the rifle HoF does not default to being a member of pistol).

Entry – Points System

Entry to either rifle or pistol Halls of Fame are based on a 10-point system.  Shooters accumulate points by participating and finishing in the required positions at NSW state sanctioned matches, events and/or competitions (refer to NSW State Events or discipline calendar), such as the Grand Prix Series etc.  When a shooter accumulates a total of 10 points in rifle and/or pistol, then that shooter becomes inducted into the relevant HoF.  Accumulating points over 10 will not give any bonuses, but who knows what the future holds.

Allocation of points goes to selected sanctioned matches/events by the SDC.  The points available will depend on the size and scale of the matches/events and/or competitions as follows:

It is important to realise that perhaps not ALL state sanctioned matches, that make up a competition, (consisting of 2 or more matches), may offer Hall of Fame points by each match.  For example, the Grand Prix rounds are normally made up of 2 or more matches BUT, points are ONLY available for the aggregate of the Grand Prix round matches (i.e. the GP round carries HoF points and NOT the individual matches).

Other sanctioned matches may carry HoF points beyond those listed here.  Any such matches will be advertised appropriately either before or at the match.  For shooters to know what scheduled matches will be carrying Hall of Fame points, it is advised shooters consult the discipline web site for the schedule of a given year.  Also, adverts should appear in the association magazine or newsletters etc.

Applies To

Because this system is not dependent on NSW rankings, as of 2003, this honour is open to every Australian shooter that competes in the scheduled NSW events.

Rewards

For any shooter who achieves placement into the Hall of Fame, a recognised patch is available at the expense of the shooter.  The patch has been designed as such to leave space for the name of the Hall of Fame entrant.  Shooters must apply in writing to receive the patch and costs must be paid up front.
