2003
Rifle Competition Structure

Following is a general description of each stage of the above structure. If further details are needed, then the appropriate area of information on this web site should be consulted.

(8) Grand Prix Rounds - Selected ranges run a Grand Prix (GP) round under the sanctioning of the State Discipline Chairman. The actual GP event is based on the aggregate of selected matches – in 2003 these are the 3P and Rapid Fire B. The results are submitted to the state DC.

(7) Grand Prix Round Results - Each shooter has the option to participate in any, or all, of the GP rounds. The shooters best 3 scores from each round are used to obtain an aggregate score. The more events each shooter attends, the greater their chances.

(6) State Postal shoot is run at any local range under the guidance of an experienced range discipline captain or range officer. The shooters results that are submitted should be the best scores shot between the dates the Postal is running, NOT including results from the Grand Prix rounds. It is an "additional" shoot. If any shooter wishes to participate but no qualified person and/or range is available to run such a shoot, then any willing shooters should contact the state discipline chairman for advice.

(5) Grand Prix Series is based on the addition of each shooters BEST three GP aggregate round scores and the NSW State Postal shoot.

(4) State Championships is the Pinnacle of the NSW Military/Service discipline. This competition is the biggest of the year and should be attended by every enthusiast.

(3)&(2) Hall Of Fame is an honour for those with a strong competitive spirit. It is based on the aggregate of points that are allocated at selected state sanctioned matches including the state championships.

(1) Shooter Of The Year (SOTY) is the outright winner of the aggregate of all the selected state sanctioned matches shot throughout the course of the shooting year.

State Ranking's and Teams Selection is basically the place getters in the race for SOTY. These shooters are considered to be the best and most committed shooters of the state. Where NSW needs to select a team for representation in inter-state competition, then these top rankers are given first consideration.
