The group formed back in 1992. Since then we have been shooting a variety of club events and a couple of the traditional events as per the SSAA Military Service rifle rule book. Under the leadership of captains Ray Halls, Harry Emerson, Paul Hemsworth, David Waters and Craig Mahoney. Silverdale has grown rapidly over the years to now be the largest SSAA Mil/Serv rifle club in NSW. Our meets generally cater for up to 30 people and is modestly priced at $20 per shooter, per day. This includes all range fees, targets, practice, competition fee, trophies, and a basic BBQ lunch. Silverdale Range Images Silverdale MSRC is renowned for its action events and even more so with the new pop-up target facility especially for 50, 100, 150 and 200 yard centre fire rifle. Shooting is done from under cover and targets are set out on a flat range. The facility also boasts a well equipped and modern club house which has over 15 sought-after perpetual shields for all of Silverdale's events. Toilets and showers are permanently on the range and camping is permitted during designated competitions. Silverdale has conceived a new event to be called the Sydney Cup. This is a great weekend event, shot annually and is one of the best action based Mil/Serv rifle events anybody could possibly participate in with a firearm. For large Silverdale area map, click here. Sydney shooting range is known to most as ANZAC. ANZAC rifle range is one of
the oldest ranges in Australia and is home to the NSWRA Queens shoot.
The range complex is found at the end of Franklin St, Malabar just south of the well known Sydney beach Maroubra. The SSAA Office is located approximately 300M from the range entrance gates on the main road. A regular Military/Service rifle shoot is held on the second Sunday of each month. The day is a classic Military shoot held in a relaxed atmosphere. The standard service match is shot at 100 & 200M using four types of targets (from 4’ to figure 12) with the participants shooting from standing, sitting and prone positions. The meet caters for all types of service & training rifles and accommodates all levels of shooters. The standard match requires 34 rounds and commences at 9.00am & finishes around 1.00pm, with the participants taking turns at shooting and operating the targets in the butts. All SSAA members can participate (ie there are no special joining requirements or additional charges for the second Sunday service rifle shoot) and juniors & new shooters are particularly welcome. If desired shooters can go to the other side of the range after completion of the service shoot to tune up their service or hunting rifles- this is covered by their initial fee. Regular attendance at the service shoot is not a requirement, you are welcome to come along on any second Sunday that suits you and participate in the shoot on the day- there are always new shooters there so you will not feel out of place on your first day. If you decide to come along to try it out you should first go to the SSAA Office & sign in, and you will be told how to get to the Military/Service rifle range. For more details you can contact either Bill Tidmarsh (96243936) or Peter Cuddy (97921840), or email billtidmarsh@ozemail.com.au.

The range complex is found at the end of Franklin St, Malabar just south of the well know Sydney beach Maroubra. Enter the driveway and proceed to the SSAA office, which is clearly sign posted approximately 100m past the NRA main block, and sign the attendance book before doing anything further. While at the office, you may choose to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee or perhaps sip on a smooth cold can of drink. The range is shared between various shooting associations and clubs. SSAA occupies the "southern" end of the complex. It offers shooters the ability to shoot out to 500metres and has 40 butts type targets. This setup makes it very attractive to largely participated shooting competitions and is home to the NSWRA Queens.
