Following are Event Details plus
some (from the rule book) important rules that are worth highlighting.
Please read this document carefully and contact the State Chairman or Deputy
for any clarification.
- Competitors are required to be legally licensed shooters, and must comply with NSW safe storage, safety and handling procedures.
- All championship matches, other than NSW specific, are run in accordance with the 1998 pistol and 1999 rifle rule books & NSW laws.
- The organisers and hosts reserve the right to change the event or schedule without notice or refund.
- There will be NO practice during competition except where specified warm up periods, or sighting shots, are allowed during the
championships, only before matches. A fouling shot may be permitted by RO if requested by competitors.
- ALL grade cards for Pistol and Rifle MUST be handed in prior to the competition. All grade cards MUST be current with at least 3
grade scores shot within last 12 months to the championship date. None current grade cards will classify the shooter as Ungraded.
- All ungraded shooters will shoot under open grade and only be eligible for Top Gun trophies.
- Junior is NOT a grade. Juniors are subject to the same grading rules as adults.
- The same (single) firearm (pistol or rifle) MUST NOT be used in more than one class. Eg. both the Standard/as issued and Modified/
accurised events (these are 2 different classes and 2 different rifles must be used).
- Firearm class forwards compatibility rule applies. All modified/accurised events may be contested using standard/as-issued firearms
- No competitor will be permitted to change firearm during competition in a given class unless endorsed by the disputes committee.
PROVIDED it is a different rifle used during the Std issue championship events (will be marked accordingly by scrutineers).
- Each firearm may be checked and re-checked during the competition at ANY time. Any shooter found using the incorrect firearm, or a
rifle out of class, shall be disqualified for that match and will not be given an opportunity to change equipment.
- All rifle matches shall be shot on 4x4 Type C targets unless otherwise stated.
- All pistol matches shall be shot on the black Service (also known as SSAA MPT 2001) targets.
- ALL children and pets must be suitably controlled and are not permitted to enter the firing area. Parents or guardians who fail to comply
appropriately will be removed from the championship immediately.
- All shooters at the firing line will be asked any shooter not ready before any firing orders are given. If no objections, there will be NO
stopping until the end of the match except for if any safety issues arise during proceedings.
- All NSW By-laws listed on the NSW discipline web site are assumed to be recognised by participation in this event.
- Competitors will be expected to help throughout the event where ever possible.
SIGN ON & SCRUTINEERING - Strictly 8.00am each and every morning. Do not be late.
ACCOMMODATION: Primitive Camping on Rifle Range from Thursday to Sunday night. Come self sufficient. Other arrangements to be made by each shooter themselves town Motels etc 20min away.
CATERING: BBQ lunch Friday, Saturday & Sunday s supplied free to competitors. Drinks & snacks extra.
There are NO organised dinners over the weekend. Please come self sufficient self to organise.
NOMINATIONS: NO NOMINATIONS REQUIRED, however we would like you to at least express your interest by contacting the hosts and/or State Discipline Chairman/Deputy no later than 4 weeks before the event. Info and queries on shooting & camping (motel accommodation is competitors responsibility),

FEES & COSTS STRUCTURE: All fees are non-refundable and should be paid on the day at the range.
- Friday only: All Pistol & Rifle events $20 unlimited classes. All/any rifle events only $10.
- Saturday & Sunday: All Rifle events $30 unlimited events and classes. Or $20 per class.
PRACTICE RIFLE & PISTOL
- Pistol will be at Tamworth PC and restricted to a short warm up period before commencing the matches.
- Limited Rifle practice at TPV Rifle Club Friday from 12pm until 5pm. We expect support of the pistol etc.
* * * PISTOL CHAMPIONSHIPS * * *
Covering all Centrefire Pistol Classes and Rimfire (plus local challenge).
- Your grade card (not required for new or ungraded shooters).
- Class 1 Military or Class 2 Service centrefire pistols - per National Rulebook.
- Class 3, which are Modified versions of Classes 1 OR 2 centrefire pistols - per NRB.
- Class 4 Rimfire pistol of any configuration in the spirit of the discipline per NRB.
- *special* NSW Class T Any centrefire or rimfire pistol with optical sights exhibition and fun.
- Holsters or pistol boxes/covers/bags to place cleared pistols.
- Eye and Ear protection must be worn at all times while shooting.
- Ammunition will be prior checked in accordance with the NRB for bullet type and load etc.
MATCHES: The following individual matches make up the 2004 State Championships (by Pistol Class):
Match 1) Classes 1, 2, 3 & 4 Long Range Rule book C.O.F. 10: - 50m, 2 rnds
Match 2) Classes 1, 2, 3 & 4 Rapid Fire C.O.F. 7: - 25m, 6 rnds
Match 3) Classes 1, 2, 3 & 4 3 Position Event C.O.F. 2: - 25m, 18 rnds
Match 4) Classes 1, 2, 3 & 4 Core - 3 Range Event C.O.F. 1: - 25, 15, 7m, 36 rnds walkup
Matches 1, 2 & 3 are completed back to back before being scored. Then Match 4 is run to complete the course.
* Time Permitting - Action Match Challenge. Falling plates duel. Drop 6 plates in quickest time no trophies *
TROPHIES & PRIZES: * EVERY paid entrant receives a competitor patch AND a raffle ticket in the lucky door prize. Competitors must be at the presentation to collect door prize, otherwise prize is re-drawn *
- NSW MSD State Pistol Championships Shield - by class for Top Guns etc.
- Final 2004 event offering State Ranking points and Hall of Fame points.
Trophies awarded for the following:
- Class 1 - Top Guns 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th outright.
- Winners & Runners Up by Grade (M, A, B, C) and Top Junior.
- Class 2 - Top Guns 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th outright.
- Winners, Runners Up and 3rd Place by Grade (M, A, B, C) and Top Junior.
- Class 3 - Top Guns 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th outright and Top Junior.
- Class 4 - Top Guns 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th outright and Top Junior.
AIHPA Australian Masters Pistol Championships (Australian International High Power Association Inc)
Both AIHPA members and none members have an extended, and open, invitation by the hosts for all competitors to participate in the inaugural Australian High Power Pistol Masters held at the conclusion of the SSAA State Championships on Friday. All pistol classes (incl Iron sights and optical) are accommodated and cross entering allowed. You will require 30rnds per class plus warmers. This event will cost $3 extra to those who stay on from SSAA champs, otherwise a $10 fee applies. Further details found at www.aihpa.com
If you want your scores to count at an international level, then shooters may choose to join AIHPA on the day during the 2004 special membership offer. Cost is $35 for 3 years includes hat badge pin.
* * * RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS * * *
Covering all Standard Iron, Modified Iron and Optical Rifle Classes.
- Your grade card (not required for new or ungraded shooters).
- As-Issued Military (Class A/B/C) or Service centrefire rifle with Iron Sights - per National Rulebook.
- Modified rifle (Class H) that began as an A/B/C but now has changes or mods beyond original Spec- per NRB.
- Optical Military or Service centrefire rifles of any class as per NRB, and faithfully produced commercial.
- Any other rifle that is required to compete in the prescribed events per the schedule.
- Also, ANY rifle capable of completing the course of fire, irrespective of type, make, sights or calibre, may
compete for the enjoyment of the event all shooters welcome and are encouraged to at least have a go.......
- A shooting mat and spotting scope or binoculars are highly recommended (for spotted shots).
- Eye and Ear protection must be worn at all times while shooting.

Event 1 Martini Cadet Shield/Championships. Open Grade
Match 1, 3 Range (NSW match) - 10 shots at 25m off hand, 10 shots at 50m sitting or kneeling, 10 shots at 75m prone. Each phase is 5min. Shot on Precision 25/50 pistol target.
Note: Presentation for this event held at conclusion of the Friday events at Pistol Range.
SATURDAY and SUNDAY RIFLE EVENTS: Sign on 8am SHARP.
Held at Tamworth Peel Valley Rifle Club 20min South East Tamworth see web site for MAP.
Note: - Matches will be shot in this order conditions permitting.
- This is a weekend event, and uncompleted matches will move back to Sunday.
- Please BE PREPARED and ready to go at all times.
Event 2 Standard, Iron Sights, Rifle Championships
Match 2 - Class A/B/C Snap C C.O.F. 7: - 300m, 10 rnds
Match 3 - Class A/B/C 3P Core C.O.F. 1: - 300m walkup, 30rnds
Match 4 - Class A/B/C Rapid Fire B C.O.F. 4: - 100m, 20 rnds
Event 3 Optical Rifle Championships
Note: Competitors may compete in up to 2 classes. Time issues will restrict shooters to 1 class only.
Note: Class T is not listed in the 1999 rule book, but is ANY rifle in the spirit of the discipline Mil calibre.
Match 1 - Classes F1, F2, G, J/T Long Range Delib C.O.F. 9: Supp. - 500m, 3+ 10 rnds
Note: Matches 1 & 2 will be shot back to back.
Note: Bi-pods and front rests may be used for matches Matches 1 & 2. 3P match is unsupported.
Match 4 - Class H Rapid Fire B C.O.F. 4: - 100m, 20 rnds
Event 5 NSW Rifle 3 Gun Top 3 places outright for aggregate of Events 2, 3 & 4.
Event 6 Carbine Shield/Championship (NSW match) Class A rifles (Levers welcome). Open Grade.
100m, 15 rounds in 90seconds. Start unloaded. Load and fire 5 standing, 5 sit/kneel, 5 prone. 4x4 Type C
Note: This event will be shot at the end of the competition while scoring is being completed for the main events. Participation is recommended and encouraged for those with any Std carbine rifle.
NSW State Discipline AGM, Saturday on rifle range after shooting finishes all should attend.
Presentation for Sat/Sun events held on Sunday at competition conclusion.

Results will be posted for 30 minutes for disputes (during Carbine). It is competitor to check scores and lodge protests, if any, within the half hour period. Presentation will commence at the laps of the 30 minute period.
- Event 1 Martini Cadets offers trophies for Top Guns 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th outright.
- Event 2 Standard Iron sights rifle Classes A/B/C. Trophies for this event as follows:
- 3P Core Match 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each grade (M, A, B & C grade).
- Event Grand Aggregate 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each grade (M, A, B & C grade) and Juniors.
- Event Grand Aggregate Top Guns 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th outright.
- Event 3 Optical is an open event by rifle class, and each class has trophies for Top Guns 1st, 2nd & 3rd outright.
- Event 4 Modified Iron sights rifle class H. Trophies for this event as follows:
- 3P Core Match Top Guns 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.
- Event Grand Aggregate Top Guns 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th plus Top Junior.
- Event 5 * * * Special - Top 3-Gun Champions. Top 3 outright aggregate winners of Events 2, 3 & 4 * * *
- Event 6 Carbine Rifle offers trophies for Top Guns 1st, 2nd & 3rd outright.
